A note from our Kaitohu Director Ruth Buchanan: "In 2025 Artspace Aotearoa lived its mission to explore contemporary life led by artists within tenuous political, social, economic, and environmental terrains. Artworks and their makers offered audiences a range of tones to explore our current moment: the intimate, the critical, the imaginary.

Across 2025, the programme at Artspace Aotearoa activated artwork and artistic positions from multiple contexts, diverse mediums, and between generations to consider the potential of forging an otherwise, a deviation—however provisional—through the potency of communicating in the language of contemporary art."
