Join Artspace Aotearoa for Karangahape Art Weekend, with a late-night opening of our current exhibition on Friday evening, followed by walking tours of Karangahape Road art spaces on Saturday and Sunday. Artspace Aotearoa will be open Saturday 11am–4pm and Sunday 11am–3pm.

Join us for a late-night opening of our current exhibition, CRIT: Art learning since 1987. The gallery will be open late as part of Karangahape Art Weekend, offering an opportunity to experience the exhibition after hours and connect with the local art community.

Join our local guides for an hour long walking tour of Karangahape Road art spaces. Beginning at Artspace Aotearoa, the tours will visit local galleries and art spaces and connect with the people and practices which shape them.
This event is part of Karangahape Art Weekend. Visit the Karangahape Road Business Association website to see the full schedule.
Tour booking encouraged but not required.

These events are free.
The Friday opening will take place at Artspace Aotearoa and the gallery is accessible.
The Saturday and Sunday tours will include walking around the Karangahape Road area.
Biographies

Damien Levi of Te Āti Haunui-a-Paparangi, Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Ngāpuhi, Pākehā is a publisher, editor and arts facilitator. He is the founder of Āporo Press, editor of the essay collection Tāmaki Makaurau 2025: Essays on Life in Auckland (2025) and was the lead editor for the online arts and literature journal, bad apple. His poetry and essays have been published online and in print.

Philip Clarke is a long time visual and object art enthusiast and collector. He was the founding director of Objectspace and is currently the co-chair of Artspace Aotearoa.

Prairie Hatchard-McGill is an artist living and working in Tāmaki Makaurau. Her practice spans sculpture, installation, and social practice. Her work explores what it means to be alive and well today, investigating language, countercultural movements, and the body. Recent exhibitions include; Cosmic Punchline, 2026 RM Gallery; Soft Sculpture, 2026, organised by Mokopopaki at William Austin; Sweet Spot, 2026, Puku. Hatchard-McGill has recently completed an MFA at Elam School of Fine Arts.

Sofia Roger Williams is a Tāmaki-based arts journalist. As co-host of 95bFM’s fine art show, Various Artists, she interviews a range of artists, curators, and practitioners every week, aiming to bridge the gap between the gallery walls and airwaves. With a particular focus on contemporary emerging practices, Sofia is interested in the role of media in our arts ecosystem and how it can support creatives in Aotearoa.
